The Florida Department of Revenue has two tax related funtions which are:

• General Tax Administration, and
• Property Tax Oversight

 General Tax Administration

The Florida Department of Revenue is responsible for administering and collecting tax such as: sales and use tax, unemployment tax, communications services tax, corporate income tax, and fuel tax. 

In order to do this effectively, the Florida Department of Revenue must register businesses for the collection of taxes, investigate potential fraud, issue tax refunds, audit taxpayers to ensure the accuracy of their tax returns and notify taxpayers if there are any errors.
